Vallelunga - 7 February 2010 - Will Pittenger's stuff for Google Earth and maps
My name is Will Pittenger. I have been making KMZ sets for Google Earth for a long time. After I starting making those, I wanted overlays for my sets. I was unsatisfied with the accuracy of the images available at Wikimedia Commons. So I started making my own with Inkscape and uploading them. Then I needed a place for anyone that liked my KMZ sets and/or maps to find others. For a while, a simple blog sufficed. But, once I started getting requests, I knew I needed something better. This site is the result. You are welcome to set up an account. Some activities are for registered users only. Take your time poking around and let me know what you think.
I don't plan to publish a KMZ until I can see the current track. It seems that they added a new loop that Google Earth doesn't show yet. In the meantime, I did make a SVG of the 2003 version of the track.
I choose the longest layout for the black layout (except for the cyan part). Hence the chicanes. I tend to show the longest unless I choose to do multiple images or have Formula 1 sector information. As for the turn numbers, join me on the IRC channel I gave you and I will discuss them. I am on there now. Please note that the best source image I had wasn't clear as to which turns some of the names applied to. I also ran out of space. That is why Turns 14-17 are shown the way they are.
Maybe it's better to get the turn numbers right as now all turns have a number 1 higher than they realy have. Except for Roma ofcourse. Also what you show here is the motorcycle layout. It would be a good idea to iclude the chicaneless version used for cars too don't you think?
