I have no information on the layout of the proposed (and canceled)
layout for the ChampCar race. If you have that, please send it using
the contact information at the bottom of this blog. I have
included two overlays (the track changed in 1991), polygons for each

Part of this track is speculation on my part. It wasn't clear where the
Pit Road was. So I looked for places where cars could cross a median in
the general vicinity of where the old Wikipedia image showed the
paddock area and start/finish line. I included an overlay (brand
new image for Wikipedia), a polygon for the track, a path for pit road,

This track caused me problems. As previously mentioned, the overlay was
very complex. This appeared to cause Inkscape (my SVG editor) to act

History:
This track used to be completely different. Only one little tiny piece
of pavement remains from that (in a place where the current track can't

what the track was like long before GE was dreamed up. That includes

Please don't confuse this track with Jacarepaguá, which commonly uses the same name.
I
had very little to go on. Wikipedia didn't have any track map until I
started this track. The official website is in Portugese, which I don't
understand. There appears to be no English site. Trackpedia only had
the outline. I only had what I could see in GE to go on. I had to
assume the direction and the number/position of turns.
If you could provide more information, please do.

My name is Will Pittenger. I have been making KMZ sets for Google Earth for a long time. After I starting making those, I wanted overlays for my sets. I was unsatisfied with the accuracy of the images available at Wikimedia Commons. So I started making my own with Inkscape and uploading them. Then I needed a place for anyone that liked my KMZ sets and/or maps to find others. For a while, a simple blog sufficed. But, once I started getting requests, I knew I needed something better.
