FAQ - Will Pittenger's stuff for Google Earth and maps

My name is Will Pittenger. I have been making KMZ sets for Google Earth for a long time. After I starting making those, I wanted overlays for my sets. I was unsatisfied with the accuracy of the images available at Wikimedia Commons. So I started making my own with Inkscape and uploading them. Then I needed a place for anyone that liked my KMZ sets and/or maps to find others. For a while, a simple blog sufficed. But, once I started getting requests, I knew I needed something better. This site is the result. You are welcome to set up an account. Some activities are for registered users only. Take your time poking around and let me know what you think.

I was born and raised in the Peoria, IL area. I went to Morton High School, Illinois Central College (where I got my Associates), and Western Illinois University. I obtained a Bachelors in Computer Science from WIU. Since then, I have ten+ years of computer programming experience. However I had troubles holding down jobs. Recently I found out why: Asperger Syndrome. As as a result, I am now legally disabled.

What software versions do you use?

Firefox	This is my primary browser. 3.0.4
IE	I use this mainly for Microsoft Update. However, I do have IE 8 Beta 2 installed.
IE Tab	This is a extension for Firefox that puts IE into a Firefox tab. I use it for MS sites and a few others. 1.5.20080823
AdBlock+	Firefox extension that kills ads. 0.7.5.5+.2008110323
NoScript	Firefox extension that blocks scripts and plug-ins from sites you don't trust.
Google Earth	4.3.7284.3916
Inkscape	0.46 is what I use for most stuff. However, I do keep the latest nightly of 0.47 around.
Windows	XP Pro SP3
GIMP	I don't use it much, but I do have 2.4.6.
